Gophers men’s hockey coach Bob Motzko doesn’t beat around the bush when it comes to his team. The Gophers are 3-3 on the season and have lost three of their last four games.

"We’ve had a deep dive trying to improve our offense and pay attention to detail. We’re not getting a good flow yet, but hopefully, that will change soon," Motzko told KSTP on Tuesday.

The Gophers have trailed in every game this season, except for the season opener. The opposing team is getting on the scoreboard first and that’s a trend Motzko would like to reverse.

"We’ve just been off and we need to play better. It would be great for us to get off to a quick start and score first. We were able to do that more last season. Our guys will find a way to find more of a jump in their game. It’ll just take a little time for that to develop," Motzko added.

This weekend Notre Dame heads to Minnesota for a two-game set to begin conference play. Currently, the Irish are 4-1 and have plenty of Minnesota ties on its bench. Seven Minnesotans are on the Notre Dame roster, then add in Ryder Rolston, whose father is former Wild star Brian Rolston, and it’ll be a fun weekend.
