With 20 starters back and eight transfers coming in, including solid defensive tackles from Clemson and North Carolina State, expectations are huge for the Gophers football team this year.

Coach P.J. Fleck met with reporters on Thursday, ahead of Monday’s first spring practice.

The NCAA decision to waive eligibility for the 2020 season will benefit the Gophers greatly. Starters Coney Durr (CB), Sam Schlueter (OL), and Conner Olson (OL) are among the many senior veterans on the roster.

The Gophers’ two biggest losses are Rashod Bateman (WR) and Ben St-Juste (CB). Both are eligible for the NFL Draft and will workout in front of NFL scouts next Thursday at Gophers’ Pro Day.

The Gophers finished 3-4 in 2020, and decided to not play in a bowl game.
