Gophers fall to Michigan State 7-6 in the team’s first home game at Siebert Field

Michigan State scored the winning run on a fielders choice to spoil the Gophers’ return to Siebert Field 7-6 on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Gophers fall to 3-13 on the season.

Gophers pitcher Sam Ireland got off to a great start recording five strikeouts in his first four innings but was touched up for five runs in five innings of work.

One of the bright spots for the Gophers is junior second baseman Zack Raabe. Raabe went 4-4 including a walk and raised his batting average to .458 on the season which puts him atop of the Big Ten in hitting.

The Gophers will host Michigan State on Saturday 4/3 and Sunday 4/4 at 1:00 pm.
