Gophers’ Carr named to Preseason All-Big Ten team
University of Minnesota Golden Gophers redshirt junior Marcus Carr has been named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-Big Ten team, the league announced Monday.
Carr set school records last season with 207 assists, including 130 in conference play. He finished the season second in the conference and ninth nationally with 6.7 assists per game, and tied for second with an assist-turnover ratio of 2.5, earning a spot on the All-Big Ten Third Team.
The Toronto, Ontario, native led the Big Ten in minutes played at nearly 37 minutes per game, ranking ninth in the country. He also averaged 15.4 points per game, notching 24 games with double-digit scoring and four double-doubles.
He joins Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu, Trayce Jackson-Davis of Indiana, Luke Garza and Joe Wieskamp of Iowa, Aaron Henry of Michigan State, Trevion Williams of Purdue, Rutgers’ Geo Baker and Wisconsin’s Nate Reuvers on the list. He’s the first Gopher on the preseason list since Jordan Murphy in 2018-19.
