Gophers athletics director Mark Coyle addressed fans at the annual Goal Line Club golf outing on Tuesday at Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, and stopped to talk with KSTP Sports.
While addressing the club members, Coyle touched on the news from Tuesday that Gophers athletics will welcome back fans at 100 percent capacity in the fall.
He also was asked about Monday’s Supreme Court ruling that NCAA limits on the education-related benefits that colleges can offer athletes who play Division I basketball and football can’t be enforced.

Coyle said that he’s so busy that he wasn’t able to play in the scramble event. There’s a lot of work to be done to be ready for welcoming back fans, how the Supreme Court ruling will directly impact ‘U’ athletics, name, image, likeness rules that are expected soon, and a lot more.
One piece of business that Coyle wrapped up recently was a contract extension for long-time baseball coach John Anderson. Coyle said that Anderson is a Minnesota baseball icon and that he’s grateful that they could come to an agreement. Anderson just completed his 40th year as Gophers coach.
