Gophers AD Mark Coyle on COVID-19 hurdles, Pitino, Fleck, and more

Gophers director of athletics spent some time chatting with our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson about the hurdles his coaches, athletes, and employees are dealing with, retaining men’s hoops coach Richard Pitino, the leadership of football coach P.J. Fleck, and more.

Coyle also touched on the upcoming vote that will determine if winter and spring athletes will get another year of eligibility, how he’s grown as a leader, those he leans on for guidance, and how women’s hoops coach Lindsay Whalen navigated her second season.

Coyle was introduced as Gophers’ AD May 2016, and recently signed a contract extension that has him locked up through June 2026.
