Perennial state tournament entrant Warroad opened its latest trip to St. Paul with a 10-0 victory over Rochester Lourdes in the Class A quarterfinals of the Girls Hockey State Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.
Senior forward Genevieve Hendrickson scored three goals and assisted on two others to help power the No. 2-seeded Warriors (20-1-0). Junior forward Maddie Lavergne chipped in two goals and an assist during the Warriors’ offensive binge that generated a single-game state-tournament record 74 shots. That broke the previous single-game mark of 73 set by Mound Westonka/Watertown-Mayer/SW Christian in a victory over Mankato East/Loyola in 2019. Warroad had 34 shots in the second period when it scored four goals.
