Top-seeded and defending Class AA champion Andover took the first step in what it hopes is a successful title defense in posting a 4-0 victory over Farmington in the big-school quarterfinals on Saturday, March 27 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The Huskies (21-0-0) took control from the start with two goals in the first two periods and generated an efficient attack that generated 30 shots on goal. On the defensive end, the Huskies surrendered little in limiting unseeded Farmington (11-9-1) to just six shots.
Sophomore forward Ella Boerger spurred the Huskies into the semifinals with two goals in the first period. Senior forward Grace Berg pushed the lead to three goals early in the second period and junior forward Sara Kaiser competed the scoring about four minutes later. Senior forwards Peyton Hemp and Madelynn Jurgensen had two assists each.
