Girls State Hockey: Chisago Lakes rallies for Class A Quarterfinal win over Mound Westonka

Chisago Lakes ended the opening day of the Minnesota State High School League’s girls hockey state tournament with a 4-3 victory over Mound Westonka/Watertown-Mayer/SW Christian in the Class A quarterfinals on Friday, March 26 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The victory sends the No. 4-seeded Wildcats (19-2-0) in the Class A semifinals on Thursday, April 1 against top-seeded Gentry Academy.

Chisago Lakes earned the chance to extend its season late in the third period when junior forward Dani Burgen completed her hat trick to forge a 3-all tie. Seventy-eight seconds later, senior forward Jenna Lawry, a Ms. Hockey Award finalist, notched the game-winning tally.

Sophomore center Sydney Leonard had a goal and two assists for the Whitehawks, who finished the season 14-3-0.
