Girls State Basketball: Hopkins rolls past Forest Lake

The Hopkins Royals girls basketball team defeated the Forest Lake Rangers 76-44, Tuesday evening at East Ridge High School, to advance to the Class AAAA semifinals.

Hopkins was rolling from the jump, jumping out to a 12-2 early lead behind star junior forward Maya Nnaji, who had 11 first-half points. Sophomore forward Taylor Woodson had a nice putback-and-one to help extend the Royals lead. Junior guard Amaya Battle also had a great first half, capping the half off with a jumper right at the buzzer, sending Hopkins in the locker room with a 48-22 halftime lead.

Woodson and Nnaji led Hopkins in scoring with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Battle finished with 12 points. Hopkins will face Chaska in the semifinal game on April 7 at Target Center.
