Kubiak joined the Vikings in 2019, spending last season as an assistant head coach and offensive advisor. The Vikings climbed from 30th in the NFL in rushing offense to sixth from 2018 to 2019. The Vikings posted a 3,000-yard passer (3,602 by Kirk Cousins), a 1,000-yard rusher (1,135 by Dalvin Cook) and a 1,000-yard receiver (1,130 by Stefon Diggs).

The Vikings scored 45 offensive touchdowns, the highest total since 2009. Kubiak helped Cousins to the best season of his career with a 26-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

The Vikings offered Kubiak the chance to take over for Kevin Stefanski a couple weeks ago, and after two days of thinking about it, said yes.
