Future Gopher McEnelly wins top ranked regular season showdown

It was a packed house Thursday night at Waconia High School for two of the top wrestling teams in the state to clash. No. 2 (AA) New Prague and No. 3 (AAA) Waconia met in a duel meet with several ranked matches on display.

The highlight of the night took place in the 195 match: No. 1 (AA) Joey Novak of New Prague took on No. 1 (AAA) Max McEnelly. Both are committed to division-1 wrestling programs, Novak to Wyoming, McEnelly to Minnesota.

McEnelly won the match by a 6-2 decision.

The meet had several other ranked matches, including:

152 – No. 1(AA) Colton Bornholdt, New Prague vs. No. 10 Alex Torres, Waconia. Bornholdt won by a pin.

170 – No. 5 (AA) Brady Westall, New Prague vs. No. 10 Andrew Torres, Waconia, Westall won by a 13-3 decision.
