Twin Cities native and former Gophers outfielder Justin Gominsky was a minor league teammate of new Twins shortstop Carlos Correa. In other words, he has unique insight.

We caught up with Gominsky, via Zoom, on Monday morning for analysis.

Correa was nice enough early in his MLB career to stop by and visit with Gominsky’s Minnesota Icemen players. Gominsky helps run the Icemen program, a Twin Cities-based club program.

Gominsky and Correa have remained in touch over the year. Gominsky was a 2011 draft pick of Houston’s, while Correa was the Astros’ top pick in the 2012 Draft.

A Twins source told our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson that they would’ve selected Correa at pick No. 2 in 2012, if Houston chose OF Byron Buxton 1st. Now, Buxton and Correa are teammates 10-years later.
