After his 4-year, $92-million free agent deal over the winter was the richest in franchise history, Josh Donaldson is taking his first steps on his new home field as the Twins have opened "Summer Camp" in preparation for the delayed start of the 2020 season.

Donaldson’s signing with the Twins made him the regular starter at third base. He’ll also be a centerpiece of the already-potent Twins offensive lineup that set an MLB record for home runs in 2019.

Donaldson’s 209 homers over the last seven season rank 10th in MLB over the time frame. That comes despite Donaldson missing two-thirds of the 2018 season due to an injury.

The 2020 season will be Donaldson’s tenth in the majors following stops in Oakland, Toronto, Cleveland and Atlanta.

The official schedule for the abbreviated 60-game 2020 season has not been released, but it’s believed the Twins will open the season on July 24th.
