Former Mounds View high school star Sam Hentges will start for the Indians Saturday at Target Field vs. the Twins.

We caught up with Dave Hentges, Sam’s dad, to chat about how great this weekend will be and more.

Hentges had a great start vs. the Pirates last weekend, working five scoreless innings while allowing only two hits and a walk. He had been working out of the bullpen earlier this month before injuries paved a path to make more starts.

Overall, Hentges is 1-1 this year with a 6.40 earned run average over 32.1 innings. He made his major league debut in April.

Hentges, 24, was a fourth round pick in 2014 by Cleveland, out of high school.

Dave credits Mounds View high school head coach Mark Downey and others in the Shoreview/Mounds View youth baseball community for helping make his son the player he is today.
