The Elk River football team not only is after their first first state championship since 2016, but to accomplish that, they will have to knock off the defending 5A champs, Mankato West, and the Scarlets’ 31 game winning streak.

Elk River has a winning streak of their own heading into the state title game with a 12-0 record. The Elks’ offense is one of the best in the state averaging over 46 points per game in their 12 wins.

“I think one of the biggest differences Cade (Osterman) can do for us at quarterback. He adds a dimension to the offense that makes it really difficult,” said Elk River head coach Steven Hamilton in his 12th season coaching the Elks.

Mankato West is 12-0 this season and also averages 46 points per game. Kickoff from U.S. Bank Stadium on Dec. 3 is scheduled for 4 p.m CT.
