Eden Prairie holds on to advance to state

The Eden Prairie boys hockey team defeated the Chaska Hawks 3-2 in the Section 2AA Final to advance to the state tournament.

The game was hard fought and scoreless after the first period. But, the Eagles scored three second period goals to make it 3-0 after two periods. The first goal was a controversial one. Eagles junior forward Drew Holt ripped a slap shot past the goalie, but was originally waved off. However, after the referees huddled, it was called a goal, giving Eden Prairie a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Jackson Blake scored the second goal and senior forward John Mittelstadt added the third for the Eagles.
Chaska fought hard in the third period. The Hawks got goals from Jimmy Snuggerud and Calvin Barrett to make it 3-2 with just over 90 seconds left. After a flurry of shots to try and tie it, the Eagles celebrated their section win.
