The Eden Prairie football program is no stranger to success, the Eagles’ program has won 11 state championships, and their playoff journey for No. 12 kicks off Friday night.
Eden Prairie went 6-2 during the regular season and is the top seed in their 6A Section 6 bracket. The Eagles will host Eastview Friday night in the opening round.
“Now we put that regular season behind us, we accomplished what we wanted to do, be the number one seed and now you have five games, somebody is going to win it,” said Eden Prairie head coach Mike Grant.
Eden Prairie’s last state championship came in 2017.
One of Eden Prairie’s strengths this season has been their defense. The Eagles allow just ender 14 points per game, including just one game where their opponent scored more than 16 points against them.
“I’m pretty excited, I feel good about this week, I feel good about the whole thing,” said Eden Prairie senior defensive back Jacory Bates. “I feel like we could make a good run at this. I’m a senior so this is my last shot at it, and I’m pretty excited. I think we have a good group of guys that can do it this year.”
