The Eden Prairie community found a unique way to celebrate a special award for the head coach of their high school boys basketball team on Monday.

Friends, family and players held a parade in front of Dave Flom’s home after he was named ESPN’s National High School Coach of the Year.

The Eagles finished the season 28-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class 4A in Minnesota but never got their opportunity to win a state title after the tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic.

"It’s overwhelming," Flom said about the celebration. "Brought me to tears right away. So great to see former players and current coaches, current players and parents. It was awesome. What a great, great tribute."

ESPN ranked Eden Prairie No. 10 in its final national poll.
