Q&A: Gophers land Western Michigan transfer WR Corey Crooms

After a great visit to Minnesota, Western Michigan transfer wide receiver Corey Crooms committed to the Gophers over the weekend.

Our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson spoke with Crooms, via Zoom.

Crooms, who has one year of eligibility left, had 57 receptions for 814 yards and five touchdowns last season. As a sophomore, he had 44 catches for 768 yards and four touchdowns.

Crooms said playing in the slot is his specialty, an area the Gophers’ offense can use help.

Crooms said he also received interest from Wisconsin, Iowa, Cincinnati, and others. One key draw to Minnesota was ass’t coach Greg Harbaugh. He coached Crooms at Western Michigan before joining P.J. Fleck’s staff.
