After an hour delay because of a lack of officials, Columbia Heights jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. Jonathan Hackett scored on an 11-yard run, and the Hylanders converted a pass for the two-point conversion. Hackett later scored on a 66-yard run.

Columbia Heights quarterback Matt Rockwell, a returning starter, played well. He ran for one score and threw for one to Alvarez. The 2022 Gophers commit, Alvarez, plays both ways, but is considered a tight end at the next level.

Columbia Heights returns to action next Friday vs. St. Paul Harding/Humboldt, while South takes on Roosevelt.
