Rosemount scored two of three goals in a seven-minute span in the first half and that paved the way to a 2-1 victory over Duluth East in the Class AAA semifinals of the boys’ soccer state tournament on Wednesday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Senior midfielder Isaac Lewis gave the unseeded Irish (9-6-3) the lead for good in the 18th minute on a one-time shot from just inside the penalty area off an assist from junior defender Reid Wolf.

The victory extended Rosemount’s postseason winning streak to five games and earned a berth in the big-school championship game on Saturday against Mounds View. It is the first championship game berth for the Irish in three state tournament appearances.

Rosemount opened the scoring in the 11th minute when senior forward Dante Shannon took a direct free kick from teammate senior defender Evan Sickman and directed a shot into the opposite corner of the goal. Less than two minutes later, though, Duluth East (18-2-1) answered on a goal by senior midfielder Kai Hoffman, who fired a shot from 25 yards.
