Class A Girls Hockey Semifinal: Cloquet-Esko-Carlton beats Warroad 5-3

The third seeded Lumberjacks (27-3) edged the second seeded Warriors of Warroad (22-5-2), 5-3 to earn a place in Saturday afternoons Class A championship game.

Senior forward Taylor Nelson had five points in the game on Friday Feb. 21 at Xcel Energy Center; three goals and two assists.

She gave her team a 2-0 lead at the end of one period.

Warroad tied the game in the second period on goals from junior forwards Geno Hendrickson and Sydney Phaneuf.

Nelson scored what turned out to be game winner 1:09 into the final period.

Teammate Kiana Bender scored goals four and five for the Lumberjacks.
