The defense was the star of the first half. Each offensive possession was long, very well defended, and ended in a contested shot.

Chaska jumped out to an early lead, but Minnetonka fought back behind junior guard Ki’ani Lockett, who made three three-pointers and a layup to lead the Skippers. But, Chaska was able to mount a great end to the first half behind junior Mallory Heyer, a Gopher commit, who drained a three as time expired in the first half. Chaska led 27-19 at halftime.

In the second half, Chaska took over. Chaska sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders hit two three-pointers and senior guard Kelsey Willems also hit some big shots to put the Hawks up 42-29 with just under 11 minutes remaining. They did not look back from there.

The Chaska Hawks enter the State Tournament with a 15-0 record.
