Boys Soccer: Late-game goal puts #1 Breck by #6 Blake

The #1 Breck Mustangs boys soccer team defeated the #6 Blake Bears 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Breck’s McKnight Stadium.

The entire game was tightly contested. In the first half, Breck had a great scoring opportunity but wasn’t able to connect on the shot. It was 0-0 at the half.
The second half saw some more stellar defense from both teams.
Blake’s Drew Shapiro had a good chance from point blank range, but the shot was steered onto the post and out of danger.

With just six minutes left to play, Breck finally broke through. Senior forward Spencer Chapman got a lead pass and pushed it a head, outrunning the defense and slotting the ball just iside the far post for the only goal of the game.
With the win, Breck clinches the Independent Metro Athletic Conference title and improves to 9-0-1 overall this season.
