Boys Hockey – Wayzata beats Minnetonka 3-1 Saturday

The No.1 ranked Wayzata boys hockey team proved why they are the top team in the state after a 3-1 road win against No. 2 Minnetonka Saturday afternoon.

Wayzata scored in the first period with a goal from Colin Bierman, the Trojans never trailed after that.

Luke Miller scored a goal and gave Wayzata a 2-0 lead in the second period.

19 seconds into the third period, Minnetonka cut Wayzata’s lead in half. Skippers’ junior Sam Scheetz scored on a redirect for a 2-1 game.

Wayzata added insurance in the third period, Cade De St. Hubert sent a bouncing puck to the back of the net for a 3-1 lead.

With the win, Wayzata improved to 10-1-1 overall. Minnetonka dropped to 9-2 overall.
