We caught up with former Bloomington Jefferson high school and Oklahoma star and current Nationals pitching prospect Jake Irvin.

Irvin has been doing his best to stay sharp during the COVID-19 pandemic, while not knowing if his minor league season will happen. Currently a pitcher for the Class A affiliate of the Nationals, Irvin was Washington’s 4th round draft pick in 2018.

Irvin only threw 20.2 innings the rest of 2018 after signing mid-summer. Then in 2019, he made 25-starts at Class A, amassing a 3.79 erned run average.

He was the Sooners’ regular Friday night starter for two seasons and led them to two NCAA regional berths.

As a junior, he led Oklahoma with 115 strikeouts and a 6-2 record in 16 starts. He maintained a 3.42 ERA in a team-high 95 innings pitched.
