Bethel softball set for program’s first-ever NCAA postseason appearance

When the Bethel University softball team beat St. Olaf 5-0 last weekend to win the MIAC Tournament Championship, it gave the Royals their first-ever bid to the NCAA D-III National Tournament.

Hours later, the selection committee gave them another gift – hosting Regionals at their home field in Arden Hills this weekend.

The Royals open the NCAA Regional Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Bethany Lutheran. Their second ame in the double-elimination Regional will be Saturday at either Noon or 2:30 p.m. against either Washington University of St. Louis or Buena Vista.

Barring any weather postponements, the Regional is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.

The Royals are 33-4 this season and swept both the MIAC regular season and postseason tournament championships.
