Bruce Larson passed away February 27th, 2022 at 58-years-old

KSTP Sports chronicled the first time New Richmond coach Reggie Larson – then the youngest high school football head coach in Wisconsin – faced Somerset, coached by his father Bruce, a three-time State Champion and the Shula Award winner as National Coach of the Year in 2015.

There will be a celebration of life for Bruce Larson at Somerset High School on Friday, March 4th. The visitation is from 4pm to 7pm with a ceremony to follow. Attendees are asked to wear team colors of the Somerset Spartans, Wisconsin-River Falls or the Green Bay Packers.

Neighboring high schools are asked to turn on their stadium lights Friday night in Larson’s honor.

New Richmond’s Reggie Larson is the youngest high school football coach in Wisconsin at only 23 years old. Meanwhile, his dad, Bruce Larson, has coached at nearby Somerset for 31 years and has won three state titles.

This coaching father-son combo found themselves on opposite sidelines in September when their teams went head-to-head.
