For years, Lisa Schuler was a football mom to two sons. Once her boys graduated, she knew she needed to find some way to remain connected to the game she loved even before becoming a football mom.
One day, it clicked. She looked into becoming a referee.
"I’ve heard comments behind me from players like, "Hey, is that a girl ref? I didn’t know they had girl refs in football," Schuler said.

Lisa’s love for football began well before she started watching her two sons play. She caught the football bug from her father and has been passionate about the sport ever since.
"If I go back to high school, I’ve always wanted to be an NFL referee. Everyone was like, ‘There’s no NFL refs that are female’ and I was like, ‘dang!’," Schuler adds.
Schuler knows sports are important to her family and wants other kids to have the same opportunites her boys had.
"Come out and join me," she offers to other women who might share her love for the game. "I would love to have more female representation. I know talking to the MSHSL there is really a need so kids can have a chance to play the sports they love."
