2 Minnesotans among 3 finalists for top D-I women’s hockey player
Two Minnesotans are among the three finalists for the award recognizing the top women’s Division I hockey player.
The USA Hockey Foundation announced the top-three finalists for the 2022 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award on Thursday. University of Minnesota Gophers forward Taylor Heise and University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs forward Gabbie Hughes joined Ohio State defenseman Sophie Jaques as finalists. Heise is from Lake City and Hughes is from Lino Lakes.
Heise is the Gophers 12th top-three finalists for the award since its inception in 1998. Two have won it: Krissy Wendell in 2005 and Amanda Kessel in 2013.
The winner is scheduled to be announced on March 26.
