The #2 Eden Prairie Eagles defeated the #3 St. Michael-Albertville Knights 24-14, Wednesday evening at Eden Prairie High School.

On the second play of the game, Eden Prairie senior quarterback David Warren-Mitchell hit senior running back Johnny Hartle for a 71-yard touchdown pass to put the Eagles up 7-0, not even a minute in.

But, the Knights would answer right back. Senior quarterback Jack Drobinski hit senior wideout Jack Hulting in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown catch to make it a 7-7 game with 5:23 left in the first quarter.

The game remained tied until late in the second quarter when Drobinski scored on a 57-yard scramble to put the Knights up 14-7 with just over a minute left in the half.

But, the second half was all Eden Prairie. On the Knights first possession of the third quarter, Eden Prairie junior linebacker Noah Ekness picked off a pass. That interception led to a field goal by senior Connor Reynolds, making it a 14-10 game with just over nine minutes left in the third quarter.

Later in the third, Eden Prairie started a long drive that went into the fourth quarter. The drive ended when junior running back Javon Palmer-Pruitt scored on an 8-yard run, giving the Eagles a 17-14 lead with 11:13 left in the game.

On the ensuing possession, the Knights went for it on a 4th-and-1. On the play, Eden Prairie senior defensive back Leif Benson sacked the Knights to give the Eagles the ball with great field position. A couple of plays later, Warren-Mitchell found senior wideout Cade Kramer on a 24-yard touchdown pass to give Eden Prairie a 24-14 lead with 8:20 left in the game.

St. Michael-Albertville put together a long drive to try and give themselves a shot for a touchdown. But, Reynolds would intercept a pass for Eden Prairie, ensuring an Eagles victory.

St. Michael-Albertville now sits a 5-1. The Eagles stay unbeaten and improve to 6-0.
