State Hockey: Hill-Murray smothers Moorhead in AA Quarterfinal

In the second upset of the evening, No. 5 seeded Hill-Murray defeated No. 4 seeded Moorhead, 5-1, at the Class AA boys hockey state tournament on Thursday, March 5 at the Xcel Energy Center.

Junior forward Jared Jenson and sophomore forward Nick Pierre led the Pioneers with three points, each scoring two goals and one assist.

Spuds senior goalie Hudson Hodges had 29 saves in the game for Moorhead (21-6-1), including 16 in the second period.

Hill-Murray (20-6-3) will meet St. Thomas Academy in the Class AA evening semifinal match-up on Friday night.
