No. 5 Chisago Lakes softball rallies to beat Princeton

The No. 5 Chisago Lakes Wildcats softball team defeated the Princeton Tigers 4-1 on Friday afternoon at Chisago Lakes High School.

Princeton started off the scoring when pitcher Morgan Kloss hit an RBI single to score Lola Meyer and make it 1-0 in the top of the first inning.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning.

Chisago was making good contact all game but kept finding the gloves of Princeton. However, senior Haley Lewis started off the hitting for the Wildcats with a single. Then, senior Hailey Benjamin followed with another single. Junior Greta Gillach got on base with a bunt single to load the bases. Sophomore Leah Zaruba then came through with a 2-RBI double to make it 2-1 Chisago Lakes.

Later, senior Anya Nephew hit a 2-RBI triple to make it a 4-1 ballgame, in favor of the Wildcats.

From there, sophomore pitcher Ashley Mandell shut down the Tigers to give Chisago Lakes the win, clinching their conference title.
