Top-seeded and still undefeated Hopkins (30-0) put their always tough full court press on display early and often and ran away from the Ponies of Stillwater (24-6) 66-40 in the semifinals of the Girls’ State Basketball Tournament.
The Royals pressured Stillwater into 31 turnovers and hurried them into missing many layups which contributed to the Ponies shooting just 29% for the game.
The 66 points was the lowest offense output of the year for Hopkins, their previous low was 69 against Buffalo; a game the Royals still won by 35 points.
Freshman Taylor Woodson led three Hopkins players in double figures with 21 points. Senior guard Paige Bueckers had 15 points to go along with ten rebounds and seven assists, sophomore Maya Nnaji finished with 12 points.
Senior forward Liza Karlen led Stillwater with 17 points and 14 boards.
