High School Football Playoffs: Mahtomedi routs Robbinsdale Cooper

The Mahtomedi Zephyrs defeated the Robbinsdale Cooper Hawks 34-7 on Friday afternoon, at U.S. Bank Stadium, in the Class 5A semifinals.


Mahtomedi struck frist when sophomore quarterback Charles Brandt converted a quarterback sneak for a touchdown to make it 7-0 Zephyrs in the first quarter. Later in the first, Mahtomedi senior running back Jordan Hull scored on a 7-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0 Zephyrs. 

In the second quarter, junior tight end Ramsey Morrell caught a touchdown pass for Mahtomedi to make it 21-0 Zephyrs. 

In the third quarter senior defensive back Gunnar Woods was able to return his intercepotion for a touchdown to make it 28-0 Mahtomedi. 

The Zephyrs will play for the Class 5A championship on Saturday, November 27 at 4:00 p.m. inside of U.S. Bank Stadium.
