Girls Basketball Class AA Semifinal: Albany routs Glencoe-Silver Lake

The Albany Huskies defeated the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers 72-49, Tuesday afternoon at Target Center, to advance to the Class AA State Championship.

Glencoe-Silver Lake (19-5) kept pace with Albany until midway through the first half, but the Huskies went on a 15-3 streak over the final four minutes and led 46-29 at the break. Albany senior guard Paige Meyer had 19 points in the first half. She was 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-6 behind the arc with six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

Albany extended its lead to 58-36 at 11:55 of the second half and won running away.

Meyer finished the game with 27 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals. Junior guard Joran Carlson added 14 points for the Huskies and freshman forward Kylan Gerads had a team-high nine rebounds. Senior guard Miah Monahan had a double-double for Glencoe-Silver Lake with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mylea Monahan, an eighth-grade guard, added 10 points for the Panthers.

Albany (23-1) advances to the Class AA title game and will face either New London-Spicer or Providence Academy. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday, April 9.
