Water rescues performed at Bde Maka Ska, Lake Nokomis Tuesday evening
Water rescues had to be performed at both Bde Maka Ska and Lake Nokomis Tuesday evening, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.
The fire department said first responders were called at 6 p.m. to respond to a water rescue at Lake Nokomis. When crews arrived, they located a victim who was transported by paramedics to an area hospital.
The department said the person is in critical condition.
Then, at about 7 p.m., crews were called to Bde Maka Ska on the report of two people struggling in the water.
When firefighters arrived, they found a person on the shore struggling to breathe. Bystanders were searching for a second person who was still missing.
First responders were able to find the second person, who was submerged. The fire department said through life-saving measures, paramedics were able to recover a pulse on the second person.
Both victims were reported to be in critical condition.
