U of M student athlete charged with criminal sexual conduct
A University of Minnesota student athlete is in custody and has been charged following a report of criminal sexual conduct last weekend.
Kevin Nedrick, 22, has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, using force or coercion.
A criminal complaint details the following:
The University of Minnesota Police Department received a call on Saturday reporting criminal sexual conduct at an apartment on the university’s campus in Minneapolis.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who said she had been celebrating her roommate’s birthday the previous night and had invited friends over, including Nedrick.
The woman stated she believed Nedrick had had a lot to drink and at one point during the night, pushed her into her bedroom. The woman stated Nedrick digitally penetrated her, though she said she told him, "I don’t want to do this."
The woman told Nedrick she needed to check on her roommate and was able to leave the bedroom.
A building security monitor came by the apartment and when the woman told him what had happened, he told Nedrick to leave and the police were called.
Nedrick is currently in custody and is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
