Stillwater is trying to help local businesses this holiday season.

The city will be lighting up downtown Main Street and, for the first time, the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge.

Stillwater put in $50,000 and raised about $100,000 more for the lights to be installed.

The city hopes the lights will bring in more visitors during the holiday season.

"We’ve got Christmas lights and decorations from one end of town to the other," Stillwater Mayor Ted Kozlowski said. "It’s going to look like Santa’s village up here."

The city plans on having all the lights on by Dec. 5.
