St. Paul Public Schools canceling meal delivery Friday amid civil unrest
St. Paul Public Schools announced it is canceling all meal deliveries and curbside meal pickup for Friday as protests rage in the Twin Cities in response to the killing of George Floyd.
The school district had been distributing meals to students while in-person classes have been canceled due to COVID-19.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause, but in light of current events, we need to prioritize the safety and security of staff members and others," SPPS spokesman Kevin Burns said in a statement.
In addition to meal distribution, Essential Kids Care services are canceled as well.
