St. Croix County inmate found dead day after arrest

An inmate at the St. Croix County Jail in Hudson, Wisconsin, was found dead Sunday morning, just a day after she was arrested on several warrants.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office said an ambulance was called to the jail at about 11:42 a.m. after deputies found 46-year-old Danyiel C. Mager, of New Richmond, not breathing in her bunk.

Deputies and medics attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, the sheriff’s office said, and Mager was pronounced dead.

She was booked into jail in the early-morning hours of Saturday on five outstanding warrants for bail jumping, according to the jail.

Mager’s body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office but no evidence of internal or external injuries was found, the sheriff’s office said. The manner and cause of her death are pending toxicology results.

The incident is under investigation.
