MPRB beaches and pools to be closed this summer; programs canceled until at least Aug. 31

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has announced that beaches and pools under its supervision will be closed for the summer of 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a release from the MPRB, beaches and pools will be closed all summer. In addition to those closures, all MPRB programs are canceled or postponed until at least Aug. 31.

MPRB parks, trails, playgrounds and athletic courts will remain open with some restrictions. Team sports that don’t allow social distancing, however, are canceled.

The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary will also be closed, as well as all MPRB recreation centers. No specific date was given for when they may open.
