Man killed in shooting, crash in Minneapolis identified

A man who died after a shooting that resulted in a crash Sunday morning in Minneapolis has been identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office said 23-year-old Quentheus Julian Watkins died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide and remains under investigation.

Authorities were called to the intersection of Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue on a report of a crash in which one of the vehicles had rolled over. There, officers found three people inside a vehicle, with a man trapped in the back seat area. The man, later identified as Watkins, was extricated from the vehicle and officials then found he’d been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot in the area of the 2300 block of Fourth Street North and the people in the car were trying to get him to Hennepin County Medical Center for medical treatment when they were involved in the crash.

No arrests in the case have been announced at this time.
