Man killed in Hawthorne neighborhood shooting identified
A man who died after a shooting in Minneapolis’s Hawthorne neighborhood last weekend has been identified.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 33-year-old Vincent Duntayvion Boone, Sr. His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Minneapolis Police said officers responded to the area 22nd Avenue North and North Sixth Street at about 2:06 a.m. on July 3. There, officers were flagged down by people who had a victim with a gunshot wound in their car. Paramedics then arrived and took Boone to a hospital in critical condition. The medical examiner said Boone died hours later at the hospital; police had said he died Monday.
Two other men showed up at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds that police said were likely suffered in the same area.
No arrests have been announced at this time.
