The Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Traffic Safety division announced Thursday 1,383 people were arrested during extra DWI patrols Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, 2020.

Officials had previously announced there would be more patrols on the roads for the remainder of last year, as part of its DWI enforcement campaign.

According to the department, fewer people were arrested during that timeframe in 2020 than the same timeframe in 2019, when 2,353 people were arrested.

"Plan ahead and drive smart to prevent tragedy," the department stated via Twitter.
