From event cancellations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the destruction in the days after the death of George Floyd, it's been a rough few months for Minnesota.
Getting people to come to visit Minnesota has been a tough task this summer, but now efforts are underway to bring tourists to our state.
Explore Minnesota is launching a new advertising campaign to bring tourists back to the state.
The "See You Soon" advertisement focuses on welcoming visitors when they are ready to return.
"It's a very soft, hopeful message," Explore Minnesota State Tourism Director John Edman said. "Just talking about what's good about Minnesota. What there is to see and do here."
A new survey by Explore Minnesota found people want to visit here, but safety considerations will be more important as they choose where to go and what to do in the state.
"We did worry about what the impact will be on the brand of Minnesota and how lasting that will be," Edman said.
Sara Young flew in from Colorado to visit Minneapolis.
"This is one the nicest places to visit," Young said. "The people here are extraordinary. It shouldn't keep people from coming. No, not at all."
