The Minnesota Street Rod Association’s (MSRA) Back to the 50’s Weekend, an event where hot rods and classic cars are displayed on the state fairgrounds, will not be happening in 2020.
In what would have been the 47th annual event, the board of directors issued a statement Monday stating it’s the "responsible action to take in an effort to keep everyone safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic."
"The health and safety of our participants, staff and community remains our top priority," the board of directors said on the event’s website.
The board also noted due to social distancing guidelines put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the state of Minnesota, volunteer committees have been unable to get together to continue working on this year’s event, putting them behind in the planning and preparation process.
The event was originally scheduled for June 19 to 21.
In 2019, the even hosted 11,345 vehicles and 300 commercial vendors. For more information on the announcement and what to do if you have a registered car in the event, click here.
