9 arrested in Kenosha after officers stop 3 suspicious vehicles

Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, arrested nine people Wednesday night after stopping three suspicious vehicles.

According to Kenosha Police, officers received a tip about several suspicious vehicles with out-of-state license plates meeting in a remote lot near Highway 50 and Green Bay Road. Officers located and began surveilling the vehicles with assistance from U.S. Marshals.

Police said the vehicles — a black school bus, a bread truck and a tan minivan — eventually pulled into a gas station near Washington Road and 30th Avenue. Officers then saw the vehicles’ occupants filling multiple fuel cans, and officers suspected the individuals were preparing for criminal activity related to recent unrest.

The officers identified themselves and attempted to make contact and investigate, and then detained the occupants of the bus and bread truck. The minivan attempted to flee but was later stopped by police and the occupants were arrested, police said.

According to police, the vehicles contained various items, including helmets, gas masks, protective vests, illegal fireworks and suspected controlled substances. Nine people in total were arrested on probable cause disorderly conduct and are pending charging decisions by the county attorney’s office.
