7 juveniles arrested in east metro incidents

Seven juveniles were arrested Tuesday in connection to two separate incidents in the east Twin Cities metro.

According to Woodbury Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested five juveniles in a vehicle on Interstate 694, and several departments later teamed up to arrest two other juveniles on Highway 61 in St. Paul.

Police said the arrests were made possible thanks to citizens reporting suspicious activity. The cases remain under investigation, and no other details were immediately available.

However, police urged community members to continue watching for suspicious activity, particularly to help prevent the recent cycle of vehicle thefts.

"Arrests alone cannot curb the auto theft problem—we need to remove the opportunities, even if it means giving up some convenience," Woodbury Police said in a post on social media. The department reminded residents to never leave a running vehicle unattended and to not leave keys in vehicles or garage doors open, as they are often the vehicles that are stolen.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity is urged to call 911.
